BUREAU BOSS TASKS LG OFFICIALS ON PROCUREMENT PROCESS

 



The Director General, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adesina Olanloye, has tasked Local Government officials in the State, to carry out procurement process in conformity with the structured guidelines, for transparency, accountability and value for money in the implementation of government activities.


Dr. Olanloye stated this during a meeting with the Procurement Planning Committee Members in Abeokuta South and North Local Governments, at the conference room of the Bureau in Oke- Ilewo, Abeokuta.


 The Director General said the meeting was part of the process of monitoring performance for the year 2022 procurement activities in all procuring entities, as well as preparing them for the 2023 procurement plan alongside the Budget proposals.


 He stated that the Procurement Planning Committee was responsible for scheduling the procurement activities of their respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) for all financial years, as they would not be able to make any procurement that was not included in their procurement plan for the year.


He said the Committee must ensure they patronise vendors and contractors registered with the government through the Bureau’s portal for efficient service delivery, advising them to draw up a procurement plan for the year 2023 and follow the recommended workflow chart among others.


According to him, ‘’the Bureau is working round the clock to ensure that procuring entities do things in accordance with the stipulated guidelines, while the  Committee constituted should be abreast of the procurement process of the State and implement them in their procurement activities’’.


In their separate remarks, the Head of Local Government Administration, Abeokuta South, Mr. Adeosun Oluwole, and the Acting Head of Abeokuta North Local Government Administration, Mrs. Adebimpe Shekoni, appreciated the Bureau for the detailed explanation of the procurement plan and assured that they would comply with the Public Procurement Law of the State, lauding the Bureau for educating them on the need to spend government funds with due process.
