Indigenes of Ogun West in Ogun State have commended the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for making life meaningful through the provision of adequate infrastructure across the region.

The commendation was given during the town hall meeting on the 2023-2025 medium term expenditure framework and 2023 budget organized by the State Ministry of Budget and Planning held at Frontier hotel in Ilaro, capital city of Yewaland.

Speaking at the event, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr. Kehinde Olugbenle lauded the effort of the Governor for the quality of work done on Ilaro-Owode road, with a called on the government to pay attention to Ipokia- Idi-Iroko, Imeko-Ijoun, Rounda-Ayetoro-Imeko roads, while work should be expidited on the Imasayi- Igan-Ikoto-Ayetoro road.

Speaking further, the monarch said, "there is no doubt that you are doing well in the area of educational infrastructure. The newly built yellow roof classrooms across our local government areas are good testimony to this.

"On housing provision, I can see the ongoing yellow roof housing scheme project nearing completion here at Ilaro. You are really meeting the yawning of our people in that regard but, there is need to build more and we want you to replicate same at Ota and other local government of Ogun West".

The paramount ruler also urged the Governor to intensify efforts at making the state an oil producing state, through activation of Tongeji Island which according to him was endowed with abundant crude oil deposit.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Hon. Lateef Salami, President of Yewa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture, Alhaji Wasiu Taiwo, and member representing Yewa South State Constituency at the State Assembly, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi appreciated Gov. Abiodun for considering the region in his daily activities and fulfilling his electoral promises to the area.

They implored the Governor not to relent while pointing out that the ongoing road construction in the area when completed would engender socio-economic growth of the region.

Responding, Gov. Dapo Abiodun noted that the axis with over 400 foreign and local industries deserves more attention in terms of infrastructural development, reiterating that his government  would redouble its efforts at ensuring that the district is given priority in the scheme of things.

On steps taken to repair some of the major roads in the axis, Governor Abiodun stated that Mike Adenuga had agreed to reconstruct the 64 kilometre Ota-Idiroko international road through tax credit, adding that the state government would  continue to improve the public private partnership to identify necessary funding options for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of major roads in the State.

Speaking on some projects executed in the Senatorial District, the governor disclosed that over 198 classrooms had been renovated in five local government areas, just as construction of housing estates had commenced in Ilaro and Ayetoro, while plans are on for the commencement of other housing projects within the division.
