Ogun State Government has restated that it will continue to hold traditional institutions in high esteem by tapping from their wealth of experience, for the progress of the State.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, in Sagamu.
Hon. Hamzat said traditional institutions were the closest to the people and their knowledge could not be underplayed, saying the visit became necessary to seek the monarch's support for effective delivery of the Ministry’s statutory responsibilities.
He stated that ‘’the Ministry will continue to maintain cordial relationship with the traditional institutions in the State, to ensure that all its values are sustained for others to emulate’’.
Responding, Oba Babatunde Ajayi enjoined the Commissioner to always consult the monarchs whenever the need arises, pledging to contribute their quota to the development of the State.
In another development, the Executive Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Emilola-Gazal has been commended for renovating Christ Anglican Primary School, Porogun in his council area.
Hon. Ganiyu gave the commendation in Ijebu-Ode, noting that "education, with a conducive environment for learning and teaching, is paramount to the development of any society".
He enjoined the citizens of the Local Government to reciprocate the gesture with overwhelming support to the present administration.
Earlier in his address, Hon. Emilola-Gazal said the renovation was in fulfillment of his campaign promises, appreciating Governor Dapo Abiodun for supporting the 20 Local Governments to be alive to their responsibilities.
