WE’LL CONTINUE TO BUILD ON SENIOR CITIZENS’ LEGACIES- OGUN GOV






 Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has assured that the current administration in the State, would continue to make it a point of duty to build on the legacies of the forebears of the State Civil Service to ensure it does not lose the core values that has made it the envy of its contemporaries in Nigeria.


Making this known at the 4th General Meeting of the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries in the State, Abiodun promised the constant strengthening of the Civil Service to enable it to play its pivotal role in service delivery to the people of the State.


Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun added that ’’more than ever before, my administration will key into the wealth of experience of these revered individuals, whose counsel remains invaluable to the running of the affairs of the Civil Service and the State at large in various capacities’’.


He reassured of the continued improvement in the lot of members of the Association within the limit of government’s resources as important stakeholders in the successful implementation of its ‘’Building our Future Together’’ agenda.


In his remarks, the State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, said it was gratifying to state that the current administration led by Prince Dapo Abiodun is refreshingly humane, Godly and committed to the welfare of Civil Servants and the retirees.


According to him, ‘’Public Service will continue to build on the legacies of its founding fathers and provide the necessary support to the government towards achieving its policy’’.


Also speaking the State Chairman, Trade Union Congress, (TUC), Comrade Akeem Lasisi said every member of the Association had played a critical role in advancing the State, while in service and after retiring, assuring that their legacies would be protected, as well as their interest.


Contributing, the Chairman, Association of Senior Civil Servant, Comrade Olude Isa, represented by Comrade Segun Adebiyi said the senior citizens inestimable contributions to the development of the State and Civil Service had continued to yield positive results, praying for God's grace and mercies upon their lives.


Earlier in his address, the State Chairman, Association of Retired Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries, Otunba Babatunde Osokoya, said the Association established 23 years ago, had been offering advices to government on matters affecting the quality of the Public Service and giving moral support to its members where necessary.


While affirming the Association's unalloyed support to the present administration, Sokoya urged the State Governor to look into the outstanding gratuity of 76 retired Permanent Secretaries from 2014 till date, payment of balance of gratuity to one retired Head of Service and 23 retired Permanent Secretaries (2011 and 2012) and effecting reduced pension parity to 56 retired HoS and Permanent Secretaries from 1984 to 2011.
