Ogun State celebrates rural women and female farmer

 



Office of the First Lady, Farmers for Progress in collaboration with Ajose Foundation, Premium Cassava Product Limited and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture felicitated with the rural women in honor of the International Day of Rural Women and World Food Day.


The event which held on Monday October 17th, 2022 at Ijebu - Ososa Odogbolu LGA, Ogun State had the attendance of the HRH Gbegunde of Ososa Oba Dr. Adetoye Alatise, representatives from Office of the First Lady, the Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture to the Governor of Ogun State Dr. Angel Adelaja-Kuye, the General Manager of Premium Cassava Product Ltd. Mrs Nike Tinubu, the Vice Chairman, Odogbolu LG Hon. Iretiolu Adenugba, Former Local Government Women Leader- Mrs Bose Lateef and Iyaloja of Ijebu- Ososa Land Chief (Mrs) Obedatu Adeniyi to mention a few. 


It was celebrated by women in the  community including 128 rural women who are cassava peelers are beneficiary of food items from the Office or the First Lady while 225 female farmers were given bundles of cassava stems through the SSA (Agriculture) and Farmers for  Progress organization on behalf of the Ogun State Governor with cash prize of 50,000 naira only given to the female farmers and also gifts like rice, vegetable oil and others from the Office of the First Lady and Ajose Foundation were distributed to all the 353 rural women present.

During the event, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR through the SSA(Agriculture) congratulated the rural women and noted that Agriculture is a key factor in putting the economy on track and also success of the future depends on active involvement of rural woman in food production, child upbringing and education.  


The representative of the First Lady Mrs Fatimah Adeyemi while delivering the First Lady's speech lauded the current administration of the state for prioritizing agriculture while pledging continual sustenance of such initiative especially for women and youth.

 She also stated that at this critical time of increasing food prices, providing a means of livelihood for our people is critical for all of us to survive. 


Also stating at the occasion, the General Manager of Premium Cassava Product Ltd Mrs Nike Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to the community through creating jobs and also appreciated the Ogun State Government for creating an enabling environment for industry like this to strive.
