Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Jamie O’Hara, has sent a clear message to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, insisting that the Reds’ defence has looked stronger in the absence of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
O’Hara said this after Klopp guided Liverpool to beat Premier League champions Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday.
Alexander-Arnold has copped plenty of criticism over the last couple of weeks following a dismal start to the season.
The England international sustained an ankle injury during Liverpool’s Premier League 3-2 defeat at Arsenal on October 9.
As a result of the injury, the 24-year-old missed Liverpool’s Champions League 7-1 win over Rangers and also their victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.
Speaking after Liverpool defeated Man City, O’Hara said on talkSPORT: “One thing I would say is they [Jurgen Klopp’s side] look a lot more stronger defensively without Trent in the team. I just look at Liverpool and what they need to do this season – have they lost their spark – they have not been good defensively…”
He added, “All of a sudden Trent picked up a bit of a knock, came out of the team, they beat Rangers 7-1 and Man City 1-0 and you think defensively they actually look good again, they look solid.”
