Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has called on relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts on advocacy and sensitisation programme against child molestation and Gender-Based Violence(GBV), to stop cases of such social ills in the society.
Salako-Oyedele made the call while receiving members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, Ogun State chapter, reiterating the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration's zero tolerance for the vices.
The Deputy Governor regarded child sexual abuse, gender based violence, harmful widowhood, cultural practices and human trafficking as contributing factors to societal problems, which demand the collaborative efforts of all and sundry to nip the menace in the bud.
While lauding the female lawyers for their commitment towards fighting the course of women and children, she urged them to synergise with other professional groups, such as psychologists and social workers for proactive and complementary roles on the protection of the rights of the vulnerable.
Earlier in her remarks, the State Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, Dr. Oluwakemi Ayanleye said the major objective of the body was to protect the rights of women and children, imploring the deputy Governor, being the Matron of the Federation, to assist in addressing some of the challenges hindering its services .
