A United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded agency, State2State Public Financial Management (PFM), has lauded the Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement for its accountability and transparency, in improving the procurement process in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government.
The PFM specialist, Dr. Eunice Akpala-Okoroafor gave the commendation when she led a monitoring team on an assessment tour to the Bureau at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, noting that the Bureau had been able to maintain a standard practice in the procurement process, and corruption-free in its dealings, among others.
Akpala-Okoroafor stated that the tour was part of the USAID efforts to improve service delivery in the Health, Education, and Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sectors, as its activities would strengthen the subnational system in six key States across Nigeria.
She pointed out that the agency assessment in the Bureau was to close gaps and stop leakages in public expenditure if any, and aid service delivery development, saying, "I have been to so many States, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement is the best I have come across, I am impressed and I rate you high".
In his response, the Director-General, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adesina Olanloye emphasised the importance of assessment to the advancement of an organisation, noting that the visit would enable BPP to identify areas to improve on, for efficient service delivery.
Dr.Olanloye appreciated the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for the implementation and amendment of the Public Procurement Law in 2021 and approval for creating Procurement Officers Cadres in the State Public Service.
