The revilitisation agenda of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration in education is yielding results and has brought about innovations targeted at improving standard of education, thereby elevating academic performance.
Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu made this known at the commissioning and handing-over of a school hall and borehole donated to Sopen Comprehensive High School, Ijebu-Igbo by the family of Late Olori-Ilu Amos Olatunji Ogunbanjo.
Prof. Arigbabu stated that the support and collaboration of philanthropists and organisations would fastrack improvement and all-around development in schools, saying “government agenda in education has led to many innovations aimed at improving the standard and elevate performance. Government alone cannot do it, that is why we will continue to solicit the support of well-meaning individuals to collaborate with us to develop our schools”.
He appreciated the family of Late Pa. Ogunbanjo for deeming it fit to contribute to the development of the school through the donation, urging teachers and students to make good use of the facilities and called on the students to imbibe the spirit of giving back to their alma mater.
In his address, the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba said people’s contribution to the development of education would bring about notable achievement and legacy, imploring everyone to strive and support the present administration in all sectors of the economy.
Also speaking, a former Deputy Governor in the State and Senator, Alhaji Adegbenga Kaka commended the initiative, promising that the community would continue to join hands towards improving the education sector.
Responding on behalf of the donor, Chief (Mrs.) Modupe Owosina said their father's love for education inspired them to provide the amenities, noting that the gesture would create a conducive environment for teaching and learning activities in the school.
