Ogun State Government has disclosed that it is streamlining skill acquisition programmes, as well as technical and vocational education across the State, to enable individuals, philanthropists, religious organisations, government agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations, among others, to meet up with the necessary prerequisite considered for the establishment of such programmes.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa who made the disclosure in Abeokuta, said the move would address plethora of skills and vocational training programmes and centres that fall within the ambit of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), to achieve its set goals and objectives.
He added that the present administration appreciated the humanitarian gestures of empowering the people to be self-employed, saying there should be evidence of competence in form of a certificate issued or approved by the government, whenever a skill acquisition programme was organised.
He said the government had put in place seamless measures to ensure that TVET programmes were qualitatively delivered across the State, advising that any empowerment training in the State should be done in partnership with relevant agencies of government.
