An international agency, GIZ - Sedin has collaborated with Ogun State Bureau of Statistics, with the support of National Bureau of Statistics (MBS), to train officers in the Statistics Bureau, as well as Budget and Planning Officers in some selected Local Governments in the State on new innovation.
Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, while declaring open the 3-Day training in Abeokuta, said the training was essential to keep officers abreast of recent innovations in the profession, and the trending skills required of them to perform effectively, urging the officers to take capacity development seriously.
According to the Commissioner, “to cope with the present day Budget and Planning activities, it is important to continually build the capacity of relevant officers, to enable them perform to expectation, in line with the best global practice”.
In his remarks,the Statistician General, Mr. Olawale Alao, represented by the Director, Social and Economic Statistics, Mr. Bolarin Abimbola said, the capacity building was aimed at improving the knowledge of officers to make them resourceful.
Alao appreciated the effort and contributions of MBS for sustaining the training, enjoining the participants to make it interactive and apply the knowledge gained in transforming the Bureau.
One of the participants, a Local Government Director of Budget, Planning and Statistics, Mr. Adeola Elemide applauded the collaborative efforts of the organisers for their innitiatives in educating them on various beneficial issues for increased productivity.
