Community leaders, parents and youths in Ogun State have been called upon to cultivate a maintenance culture, towards preserving and protecting public infrastructure and people-oriented programmes in their respective domains to complement government’s efforts.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Development Partners Coordination, Mr. Bayo Adenekan, stated this in Abeokuta, during a routine inspection and verification exercise by the Central Department of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Ministry of Budget and Planning to some government projects, including schools.

Mr. Adenekan said the exercise was to ensure value for the money spent on the projects, saying the assessment visit would allow the government to identify other immediate needs of the people for better consideration.

 He urged the people to continue supporting the present administration in its quest at living a legacy that would enhance the living standard of the people by securing the projects against unwarranted vandalisation and misuse while assisting in the communal maintenance of public facilities.

The Governor’s Aide noted that the outcome of the project assessments would be reported to the Governor through the relevant authorities for onward review and recommendations, saying "this is a routine exercise to know if public infrastructure projects have been executed to standard. We believe that the communal support towards these projects will motivate the government to do more for the people".

The team inspected the construction and rehabilitation of block of three classrooms in selected Public Primary and Junior Secondary Schools, under the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Abeokuta North and South, Ewekoro and Yewa South Local Government Areas of the State.

Meanwhile, the Central Department of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Ministry of Budget and Planning had previously visited projects sites under the Partnership for Expanded Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (PEWASH) initiative in Ayetoro, the ongoing Kings Court Phase 2 project at Oke-Mosan, as well as other infrastructure by the present administration at the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese-Ijebu.
