The Ogun Central Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in the coming 2023 elections, ALHAJI SHUAIB AFOLABI SALISU has said that he is in the contest with the sole interest of providing a better future for the people of Ogun Central Senatorial district.
The former chief of staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the pledge on Saturday at the Inauguration ceremony of Opeji Area Community Development Council (CDC)
Salisu who addressed over 55 Community Development Areas (CDAs) members, Opeji Area Development council in Opeji said governance should be about the people and solving citizens' problems.
The APC candidate, however, reminded the different groups that the event was not a campaign but an avenue for him to meet, greet and dine with his people as he has always done.
"We have not started campaign. No, this event is not a campaign set up, it’s just for us to see ourselves, greet ourselves and to encourage ourselves. I am encouraged and impressed with what I have seen here today. And I want to tell you that this is my home and my root , I am proud of my root" Salisu said.
Making reference to the development plans he intends to execute if elected by the good people of Ogun Central Senatorial district, SHUAIB AFOLABI SALISU said the downtrodden in the society and the poorest of the poor masses will feel the impact of government when he gets to power, stating that those are the groups at the centre of his development agenda.
"I have sunk many boreholes and wells across the city to ensure our people have access to clean water. Also I have fulfilled my promise to replace the faulty transformer"
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of Opeji Area CDC, Commander Kolawole Alatise who happens to be Alhaji Salisu's school mate told the members about numerous development that Alhaji Salisu has brought to Opeji Area and Odeda local government, adding that the Ogun Central Senatorial candidate will expand the scope of development to every members.
According to Alatise, ALHAJI SHUAIB AFOLABI SALISU is a candidate to beat in the forthcoming election.
Over 25 groups, like Fulani and Igede Association, Youth groups, traditional groups and different organizations attended the event where they pledged their support and loyalty to ALHAJI SHUAIB AFOLABI SALISU.
