Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy has directed the management team of Yewa South Local Government Council led by the Chairman, Mr. Adebayo Salami, to immediately begin the process of clearing the bushes around the Council's staff quarters at Gbogidi area in Ilaro and ensure its renovation on or before August 15th, 2022.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, gave the directive while leading other members of the Committee to examine the budget performance reports of local government councils in the State for the second quarter at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Lamenting the sorry state of the staff quarters, Hon. Ajayi and her Vice, Ganiyu Oyedeji cautioned the council on the need to ensure that rents from the quaters are used to carry out clearing of buses around the quaters and the need to carry out repairs on the apartments.
The members urged the management of the council to improve on its revenue profile and ensure that rents from the quaters were duly collected from the occupants.
The Committee also directed the Management of Ifo Local Government Council led by the Chairman, Ms. Kikelomo Delano to submit supporting documents explaining all budget heads contained in its overhead expenditure to the Committee and submit same to the Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption.
The documents according to the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy should be submitted on or before Friday, 12th August, 2022, as the request was in meant to assist the Assembly in promoting accountability and transparency.
The Committee also asked the management team of Abeokuta South Local Government Council to furnish the House Committee with supporting documents on some expenses not clearly captured.
The lawmakers also requested the Management of Ipokia Local Government council to re-present its financial report with the presence of the Council Chairman on the 9th August, 2022
The lawmakers also examined the financial reports of Ado-Odo/Ota, Ewekoro, Abeokuta South, Yewa North and Imeko-Afon Local Government Councils.
