Jamie Carragher trolls Gary Neville by changing his profile picture to image of Neville in clown make-up during Manchester United humiliation

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher poked fun at Manchester United great Gary Neville by changing his profile picture during the Red Devil’s 4-0 humiliation at Brentford on Saturday.

Neville’s old side were four down at half-time in west London, prompting Carragher to take aim at his punditry colleague.

Brentford took the lead after just 10 minutes by virtue of a mistake by David De Gea.

The goalkeeper allowed Josh Dasilva’s weak long-range shot to squirm through his hands and into the net.

De Gea was at fault again nine minutes later, selling Christian Eriksen short and allowing Mathias Jensen to double the lead.

Brentford were 3-0 up within half an hour when Ben Mee bundled the ball home at the far post from a corner.

And it was 4-0 five minutes later when Ivan Toney teed up Bryan Mbeumo.

When the half-time whistle blew, social media was in a frenzy.

Carragher opted not to tweet specifically about the game.

Instead, he simply changed his profile picture on the app.

The new image he chose just so happened to be one depicting Neville as a clown, with full make-up.

The United legend is yet to react publicly.

During the game Neville was working as co-commentator for Sky, and seemed all but lost for words.

Speaking after the fourth goal, he said: “What a first half of football we’re seeing here, the annihilation of Manchester United.”

When United boss Ten Hag appeared on screen, Neville added: “He’s got nothing to say, he’s got nowhere to go.

“What do you do a half-time if you’re Erik ten Hag? What can you possibly say to those 11 players who have been out there in the first half? What can you say?

“I think you’ve just got to send them out again, that would be it. I’m not quite sure what else he can do.”
