Ogun State Government has stepped up efforts at ensuring that dilapidated Primary Health Centre (PHCs) in rural and underserved areas are renovated to the optimal standard.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker disclosed this during an inspection tour of the renovated PHCs in Ado-Odo/Ota, Yewa South and Ipokia Local Government Areas, saying the State government would ensure that the centers were in good shape, to enable the grassroots have access to quality healthcare services in a conducive environment.
She said primary healthcare serves as the first point of contact for the people to get essential care, advising residents to always patronise the government PHCs closest to them.
In their separate remarks, the Deputy Director of Nursing, Ere Primary Healthcare Centre, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Mrs. Rashidat Akinremi lauded the present administration for renovating the center, adding that it would enhance job performance.
In his contribution, a representative of the Agosasa Ward Development Committee commended the State government for prioritising the primary healthcare system.
The Centres visited were Ere Primary Healthcare, Ado-Odo/Ota, Owode Yewa PHC, Yewa South, and Agosasa PHC in Ipokia Local Governments.
