ABIODUN RECEIVES NEW NSCDC COMMANDANT, TASKS SECURITY AGENCIES ON NEW TECHNIQUES

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has received the new State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Niyi Ajibola, with a charge to adopt new techniques in tackling the current security challenges confronting the country.

Governor Abiodun stated this in Abeokuta, when the Commandant paid him a courtesy call in his office, saying security agencies needed to fashion out an all-encompassing and efficient method that would not only addresses the menace but nip it in the bud.

The Governor observed that security was not only about providing the needed weapons but adequate welfare to the officers and men, adding that the relative peace in the State was a result of synergy among the various security agencies.

He said the State in the past three years had risen to the security challenges by establishing the AMOTEKUN Corps to assist the federal security agencies saying," we cannot afford the breakdown of law and order that will threaten the commonwealth of the State.

The State’s helmsman described the new Commandant as an officer with rich and diverse experience, having transverse the length and breadth of the country in the course of serving his fatherland, calling on the new NSCDC boss to emulate his predecessor, who performed creditably well.

Speaking earlier, Commandant Ajibola said his mission was to support the government towards ensuring adequate security of lives and property in all the nooks and crannies of the State,  to enable it to implement its policies and programmes.

Ajibola who decried the upsurge of cult activities in the State said the Counter Terrorist Unit of the Corps would assist the State in tackling the menace, while plans were on to establish a Quick Response Square to respond to emergency security cases around the State.
