Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says despite paucity of funds, his administration will continue to commit huge resources to provide infrastructure that will open up and drive the economy of the State.
Abiodun stated this today when he commissioned 2km Igan-Ishamurin-Odo- Shikiti road, in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the State, adding that the government was determined to put the State in the league of advanced economies and make it an investors destination of choice.
The Governor noted that efforts would be intensified to rehabilitate existing infrastructure, build new ones and also put them in a position where they would not only stand the test of time, but serve as a catalyst for socio-economic development.
He said, "It is our desire to achieve this objective that makes us commit huge resources to the development of infrastructure, while not neglecting other sectors competing for the scarce funds of the State government”.
The State helmsman stressed that the Igan-Ishamurin-Odo-Shikiti road was designed to improve the socio-economic lives of the people of Ago-Iwoye, as well as the surrounding communities, by making transportation smooth and convenient for farmers when conveying their farm produce to urban market centres.
Prince Abiodun said the project which was handled by indigenous contractors had streetlights, good drains, culverts and four lay byes on the stretch of the road for the safety of pedestrians.
In his welcome address, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, said the present administration constructed the road to further improve the economic activities of people in the area, calling on the residents and motorists to make good use of it and desist from dumping refuse on the drainage.
Speaking, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Kayode Adetona, represented by the Dagurewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya, pointed out that the completion of the road was an indication that the government cares about the welfare of the people, lauding the Governor for ensuring that infrastructural projects were spread across the nooks and crannies of the State without neglecting other sectors.
