Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the gazetting of Principals-General’s position across the four divisions of the State, to officially entrenched it into the Civil Service Commission documentation for future references and to substantiate the status.
Abiodun announced this in Abeokuta, while declaring open a two-day workshop on a Mandatory Continuing Professional Training (MCPT), Southwest Zone, organised by All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Ogun State Chapter with the theme: "Emerging Administrative and Management Innovations and Techniques for Handling Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Secondary Education".
The Governor who mandated the Head of Service (HoS), Dr. Nafiu Aigoro to hasten the process of the gazetting, said the role of Principals in the education sector across the State could not be overemphasised, stating that the welfare of both Teaching and Non-Teaching staff was paramount to the government.
He urged the participants to galvanise the knowledge gained at the training to improve on the administrative management of their schools, towards supporting the governments of Southwest States in the education sector, as the programme was key to nation building.
Speaking, the President, ANCOPSS, Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Olubunmi Womiloju said Ogun remains the cradle of education in Nigeria, saying the State had produced icons in different fields, appreciating Governor Abiodun for creating conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning, as well as ensuring teachers’ welfare, such as regular payment of salaries, sponsoring of Principals for International trainings and many more.
