Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), has said that all is set for the conduct of a Bye-Election into Joga/Ibooro Ward 5 in Yewa North Local Government Area, tomorrow Thursday, July 14, 2022.
The Chairman, OGSIEC, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu made this known in Abeokuta, while fielding questions from journalists on the Bye-Election, saying the process became imperative due to the demise of a former Councilor, Hon. Sunday Ogundele, as the law binds the Commission to elect another Councilor to complete the tenure.
Osibodu added that the election would commence at 9.00am and ends by 3.00pm at designated polling units, which are, Near Dispensary, Ibooro I (001) and II (002), Near Anglican Church, Ibooro 003, St. John Primary School, Ijako (004), St. Peters Primary School, Joga (005), Obalaju Hall, Joga (006), Market Square, Joga I (007) and Joga II (008).
‘’I implore all eligible voters to come with their Permanent Voter’s Card or other viable means of identification such as the National Identification Card, Driver’s License and International Passport to the polling centers and adhere strictly to the rules guiding the process’’, he said.
The OGSIEC boss also called on the citizens and relevant stakeholders to be alive to their civic responsibilities in the 2023 General Elections, to ensure emergence of leaders that would bring about meaningful development to the country.
He said the electorate, political parties, religious and Non-Governmental Organisations, traditional rulers, security personnel, as well as the media have major roles to play towards achieving hitch free polls.
Osibodu who enjoined Nigerians, particularly the youths to get their PVC,
said they have the power, which is their numerical strength in determining who wins, calling on them not to be used as agents of violence by politicians.
