Delegates of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) under the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), have commended Ogun State Government for its huge investment to guarantee operational conveniences for the State Command.
Leader of the team, Mr. Sanusi Aliyu, who represented the Executive Secretary of the National Police Security Trust Fund, Mr. Abdullahi Bala, while speaking during an interview with newsmen after a meeting with the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the delegates were in the State to carry out on-the-spot assessment of police security architecture.
Mr. Aliyu, who is also the Director of Funds Mobilisation and Partnership of NPTF, stated that they had been conducted around major police facilities in the State, including the training school, the command and barracks, saying the aim was to improve them through a partnership with the State government, build new facilities where necessary, provide assistance for the procurement of security equipment and other associated amenities that would improve its efficiency.
He said they were impressed with what they saw, as the police officers were well encouraged and motivated by the government through the State's Security Trust Fund, adding that the Commissioner of Police had pledged continued support to the Force.
"We are in Ogun State to conduct on-the-spot assessment on the needs and challenges of the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, and as well show appreciation to the Governor and the good people of the State for the wonderful assistance they are giving to the Nigeria Police. We want to say we are very delighted with what we have seen", Aliyu stated.
He assured that the Federal Government through the National Police Trust Fund was poised to provide more technical support, and training, among others, noting that the government would respond positively to the plights of the officers in the State upon the submission of their report.
