Citizens of Irete-Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Government of Ogun East in Ogun State would on Friday, July 15, 2022 gather together to celebrate the town maiden edition of Ojude Oba holding at Onirete of Irete pavilion, Irete-Ijebu.
According to press release by the Chairman of Irete Ojude Oba celebration committee, Imam Adam Kazeem, "the festival is expected to be graced by indigenes, non-indigenes and well-wishers from different works of life, who will gather to pay homage to the monarch of the town, the Onirete of Irete, HRH, Oba Awokoya Abdul Ganiy Olusegun.
"The festival will witness a special prayer for the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, our monarch, the entire people of the town and peace and progress of Ireteland".
The committee further said that the Ojude Oba event would witness paying of homage to the monarch by sons and daughters of the town, groups, associations, and regberegbes in their different and colorful attires.
"The Onirete of Irete, Oba Awokoya Abdul Ganiy Olusegun believe that the festivals which is going to be an annual event will be instrumental to the unity of the people of the ancient town", Imam Adam posited.
While enjoining sons and daughters of Irete-Ijebu to partake in the festival, a notable son of the town, Otunba Saheed Dosumu implored good people of the town to continue to give the monarch the necessary support needed to take Irete-Ijebu to an enviable height, adding that the festival no doubt will further project the image of the town.
