Former Premier League midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has advised clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and a host of others to learn from Liverpool’s style of selling players at the right time.
He said this while reacting to Sadio Mane’s move from Anfield to German champions Bayern Munich.
The former Premier League star hailed the Reds for coping with the loss of such an integral part of the team.
Manchester United allowed the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and a few others to leave Old Trafford as free agents.
In a similar vein, Chelsea watched helplessly as their defence mainstay, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen also left on free transfers.
Speaking on the BBC’s Football Daily podcast, Reo-Coker said, “They are always planning ahead and have got the structure and pieces in place to deal with departures.
“From a business perspective, it’s the right time to sell Mane.
“Other clubs play hardball over players and then lose them on a free transfer a year later.
“Think they could learn from how Liverpool know when to let go of their players.”
