EDUCATION COMMISSIONER URGES STAKEHOLDERS TO SUSTAIN PARTNERSHIP

Stakeholders in the education sector have been urged to continue to be partners in progress, towards sustaining educational development.

Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu made this known at the commissioning of a Secretariat Complex donated by Remo Secondary School Old Students’ Association and Leadership Workshop organised for the newly elected executive members.

Arigbabu posited that the role of individuals and stakeholders in any nation’s educational development could not be underplayed, hence the need for the government, old students’ associations, parents, teachers, students, and society to play their part in ensuring that standards and morals are restored in schools.

“The State government is to provide a clear, realistic vision, transparent policies and enabling environment for schools to thrive and for everyone to be able to contribute their quota to the development of the school and also coordinate the effort of all stakeholders”, he said.

Arigbabu stated that the present administration would continue to improve the education sector through its six pillars in the revitalisation agenda, which include, curriculum design, school management, revenue and funding, technology and innovation, infrastructural development, teachers and students’ welfare.

On his part, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi encouraged the old students to further build and develop institutions instead of personalities, advising them to have empathy and not abuse the position and resources at their disposal but use it for the benefit of their alma mater and the society in general.

In his remarks, the President of the Association, Aare Adetola Emmanuel King said education remains a focal point of its agenda, and would not relent in supporting the government, revealing that some of the plans of the Association are to put in place a Committee on a 10-year master plan of the school, as well as carry out a solar project that would light up the school environment, among others.

In his presentation, titled ‘Passing the baton: Sustaining Visionary Leadership across Generations, the lead presenter, Prof. Adeleke Oduwaye enjoined the old students to work towards ensuring that the educational standard of the school measures up and surpasses other notable secondary schools across the country.
