Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has urged the outgoing Corp members in the State to take advantage of the various youth-oriented programmes, to be self-reliant and serve as employers of labour.
Abiodun gave the advice at the passing out ceremony of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) 2021 Batch B Stream 1 Corp members, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The Governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun said the present administration had created opportunities in different sectors of the State’s economy, which would increase the individual prosperity of the youths.
"We have various opportunities in different sectors of our economy. In the area of Agriculture, for example, the Anchor-Borrowers’ Scheme, Broilers’ Project, Cassava Revolution, FADAMA Graduate and Youth Scheme, and other programmes are viable openings for our youths to become agricpreneurs", Abiodun said.
He stated that the government had reinvigorated the digital infrastructure, to create an avenue for our tech-savvy youths in the emerging global digital world, while explaining that residents would benefit maximally from the infrastructural facilities in the State.
In her welcome address, the State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Shokpeka Winifred advised the outgoing Corp members to shun activities that could tarnish their image.
A total of 4,446 Corp members successfully passed out, while 56 of them who absconded from the service or committed an offense were told to repeat the service year.
