Southampton’s new boy, Joe Aribo has been handed the number seven jersey by the club.

The Saints released the men’s team squad numbers on their official website Friday afternoon.

Aribo will take the jersey from Shane Long, who recently left the club for Sky Bet Championship side, Reading.

The number seven jersey has previously been worn by some of the club’s superstars like; Matt Le Tissier, Kevin Philips and Rickie Lambert.

Last week, the midfielder joined Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side from Scottish Premiership giants, Glasgow Rangers.

Southampton parted with £6m to secure the services of the 25-year-old.

Aribo is currently with his teammates in Austria where they are preparing for the new season.

Southampton will take on RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
