Another batch of 103 Ogun state pilgrims which comprises 55 females and 48 males arrived Nigeria safely after a successful hajj in Saudi Arabia having completed the 2022 hajj exercise.
The Executive Secretary, State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Salau Dauda who disclosed via telephone interview with information officers, said the pilgrims arrived Nigeria on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at exactly 1:10pm via Muritala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos aboard AZMAN Airline.
Salau who described this year hajj exercise as unprecedented going by the short time notice given by the Saudi Arabia authority to prepare for the journey, saying Allah has really been merciful to the state since the operations began, attributed the achievement to the State government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun for undiluted support for the board.
He maintained that the State up till now, did not record any death, adding that the remaining officials and Ad-hoc committee members led by its Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Usain would be leaving for Nigeria soon In Shaa Allah, urging all the pilgrims to make judicious use of lessons learnt from the hajj exercise.
"No successful hajj operations without challenges, the management of the board would go back to drawing board in order to stem up of some hitches being experienced in this year pilgrimage with the view to making necessary correction and improve on it, Salau emphasised".
Speaking with newsmen on their arrival at the airport, the Head of Medical team, Dr. Rabiu Kusimo said that the pilgrims had the best of the health experience, saying the pilgrims were returned in good condition and there was no casualty recorded.
Also speaking, two of the returning pilgrims, Alhaji Giwa Sheriff and Alhaja Balqees Adewale expressed satisfaction over the arrangements which made the 2022 hajj operation hitch-free, describing stay in Mecca and Medina as an unforgettable experience.
