The Senior Special Adviser to Ogun State Deputy Governor on National Boundary Adjustment, Mrs. Bukola Ahmed has assured people in the border communities of adequate infrastructural development.
Ahmed gave the assurance at the palace of Baale Igbokofi during a peace accord meeting with the people of Igbokofi and Asaga communities, in Yewa North Local Government Area, with respect to land encroachment that could result in chaos.
She said the commitment of the government would further enhance their standard of living, as well as protect lives and property against any form of encroachment and external invasion.
The Senior Special Adviser emphasised the need to sustain the harmonious relationship existing between the government and the people of the border communities, to facilitate more developments and dividends of democracy.
In his contribution, the Chairman, Yewa North Local Government Area, Hon. Gabriel Ogunyomi promised that government would open more access roads, provide health centres, schools, among other social amenities across the area for the use of the people in the communities.
Ogunyomi called for the support and cooperation of the citizenry to enable the council to attain an enviable position among its peers in the State.
In their remarks, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ketu Constituency, Hon. Aruna Egungbohun and the Adele Oba of Onijoun, Chief Emmanuel Olaleye enjoined residents to create more awareness on peaceful coexistence among the communities and shun ethnic rivalries, killings, as well as invasion of land.
Responding, the Baales of Igbokofi, Asaga, and a community leader, Chief Olusesan Olusoji, Chief Ayo Adeleye, and Pastor Olukunle Garb respectively, pledged to maintain adequate security to complement the efforts of security agencies in the area.
