EXPERT THUMBS UP OGUN GOVT ON HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

The Southwest Technical Consultant on Human Capital Development Programme (HCDP), Hon. Dayo Adeyanju has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation in the development of a work plan to increase the participation of both the public and the entire citizenry towards available future opportunities.

Adeyanju made this known while speaking at a validation meeting via Zoom in Abuja, saying the proactive effort and contributions of stakeholders towards the validation of the draft work plan would enable the State benefits from the achievements recorded in the spate of three years rejuvenation of the programme.

It would be recalled that HCDP intervention, which was previously known as the HUCAP programme commenced in 2008, and was rejuvenated in 2018 by the National Economic Council.

The Consultant pointed out that the meeting was to explore ways of accelerating the human development programme in the State, with special reference to Health, Education and Labour Force Participation thematic areas.

"We have gone through the first and second drafts of the workplan and are quite impressed with the development so far. Ogun State is seen doing a lot for its citizenry, and our role in the development of this work plan is to fastrack and maximise the potentials accruable", he added.

Adeyanju maintained that there was a need to strengthen the capacities of planners and other stakeholders on proper data capturing for better service delivery, as all the interventions were expected to have budgetary provisions, admonishing the officials to come up with practicable interventions and adopt the same, towards improving the livelihood of the entire citizenry.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan appreciated the Consultant for the level of support given to the project since he was introduced to the State, saying that the present administration was awaiting the final draft in the successful implementation of the programme.

Other government functionaries at the meeting were Permanent Secretaries, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada, his counterparts in Trade and Investment, Mr. Olu Ola Aikulola, Public Service Transformation Office (PSTO), Mr. Jola Oyeneye, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, among others.
