Jose Enrique has told Benfica striker, Darwin Nunez to reject Manchester United and sign for Liverpool this summer.
The 22-year-old Nunez scored 34 goals in 41 appearances for Benfica last season, emerging as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers.
He is heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford as a replacement for his countryman, Edinson Cavani, who has said goodbye to Manchester United fans.
United’s new boss, Erik ten Hag is in the market for a topnotch striker to take the pressure off Cristiano Ronaldo next season.
But Enrique, a former Liverpool full-back, feels the 23-year-old striker should not make the much speculated move to Manchester United, but should join the Reds instead.
The Spaniard wrote on his Instagram story: “I hope this is not true and he comes to us instead.
“We (Liverpool) should go for him, a top player who can become world class under (Jurgen) Klopp if we sell Sadio Mane.”
