5 Liverpool players could leave club imminently as Reds plot Midfielder deal

Jurgen Klopp is set to turn his attention to trimming his Liverpool squad ahead of a move for England international Jude Bellingham next summer.

The FA Cup and Carabao Cup winners have already completed a blockbuster deal for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez. The Uruguay international netted 34 times in all competitions last season, and has signed a six-year contract at Anfield in what could become a club-record deal.

Calvin Ramsay is expected to become the Reds' third summer signing following the deals for Nunez and Fulham wonderkid Fabio Carvalho. Liverpool have agreed an initial £4million fee with Aberdeen for the Scotland under-21 international, who will likely serve as Trent Alexander-Arnold's understudy.

Bellingham has long been tipped with a move to Anfield following his meteoric rise in Germany with Borussia Dortmund. The former Birmingham City starlet has become a standout star in the Bundesliga as well as regular fixture in Gareth Southgate's England squads.

The teenager still has three years left on his contract at Signal Iduna Park however, and Dortmund have no intention of cashing in this summer following the sale of Erling Haaland. The prolific frontman has joined Manchester City after the Premier League champions activated a release clause in the striker's contract.

Dortmund's refusal to consider a second high-profile sale this summer along with the Nunez deal has led to Klopp plotting a move for Bellingham next summer. The focus now for the Reds boss is on trimming his squad and freeing up funds, with a host of out-of-favour stars likely to leave in the coming weeks.

The signing of Nunez seems to have been made with the expected departure of Sadio Mane in mind. The Senegal international is expected to move to Bayern Munich following six seasons on Merseyside, with a verbal agreement said to have been reached on a three-year contract at the Allianz Arena.

Takumi Minamino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nat Phillips and Neco Williams are among the squad options also understood to be available. Liverpool are said to be open to sales or loan exits for the fringe stars.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled with injury since arriving from Arsenal in the summer of 2017. The midfielder is entering the final year of his contract, and Manchester United and West Ham have both been linked.

Minamino has failed to establish himself as a first-choice attacker, and the Japan international is reportedly attracting attention from several Premier League sides ahead of a prospective £17 million deal. Phillips helped Bournemouth secure a top-flight return last season, and the centre-back could return to the south coast on another loan or a permanent basis.

It is a similar story for Williams, who impressed on loan during the second-half of the campaign with Fulham. The Cottagers are said to be keen to secure the return of the Wales international, while Nottingham Forest have also been linked.
