Learners in the State sitting for the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been advised to avoid untoward practices that will bring shame to them.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu gave this charge when he led the management team of the Ministry to monitor the examination in Abeokuta axis, admonishing them to rely on their abilities and preparedness to record good success.
Arigbabu stated that the preparation put in place was in order, with students diligently doing their examination without any interference, opining that with the level of government’s effort towards the examination, the overall percentage would improve considerably compared to time past.
“We are quite confident that with the learners’ seriousness, they will come out successful. Our learners have comported themselves from what we can see and I want to advise them to rely on their abilities and shun untoward practices”, he said.
The Commissioner revealed that the government has put in place measures that would improve teaching and learning activities, positing that with the intervention, the standard would be restored and sustained.
Some of the schools visited include, Abeokuta Grammar School, Government Science and Technical College, Idi-Aba, Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Isabo and Premier Grammar School, Lanfewa.
