Ogun State Accountant-General (AG) and Permanent Secretary, Treasury Office, Mr. Tunde Aregbesola has charged Directors of Finance and Accounts in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to key into the various economic transformation initiatives of the current administration in the State towards improving its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Aregbesola gave the charge at the maiden meeting with Directors of Finance and Accounts (DFAs) and Senior Accountants in Abeokuta.
He highlighted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration had embarked on several record-breaking reforms that had boosted the State revenue, maintaining that there was need to join hands with it to further achieve more successes.
The Accountant-General stressed the need for them to be professional and thorough in the discharge of their duties, advised the DfAs to always ensure that junior officers under their supervision are adequately monitored in carrying out assigned duties.
Aregbesola also admonished them to always adhere to strict financial regulations in their various MDAs.
Responding, a Senior Accountant in the Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mr. Kelvin Odulaja, made case for robust synergy between accountants at the Ministry of Budget and other MDAs, saying it would further engender cooperation among Accountants.
Also speaking, the Director, Final Accounts, Office of the Accountant-General, Mr. Ayodele Sulaimon advocated the need for periodic trainings and retraining of Accountants for effective and efficient processing of financial transactions.
