Buhari reveals what will determine Nnamdi Kanu’s release

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday told Southeast leaders that the court will determine the fate of pro-Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Buhari, during a meeting with the South-East leaders, including the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo at the Government House, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, called on the South-East leaders to allow the ongoing court process, bordering on charges against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the country, to decide separatist’s case.

He noted that the determination of the court on the matter was necessary, adding that Kanu’s case should be properly adjudicated in the law court.

He also expressed concerns over the worsening security situation in the region.

According to him, some people from the region have brainwashed and incited many against the government

“I will like to highlight to you our successful achievements in the southeast region. I’m proud of the reconstruction of the runway of the international airport Enugu and the ongoing work at the second Niger bridge and the 10 kilometres six-line expressway at Onitsha to Asaba that is bearing to completion.

I must register my deep concern on the security affairs in this region. I was informed in the last 48hours of the brutal actions of the terrorist who prey on the innocent and hard-working citizens, unfortunately, these barbaric actions were foisted on operatives (soldiers) who have committed their lives to protect their fellow citizens.

“Terrorists who have been brainwashed in the certain segment of the population have turned to be terrorizing the people through their brutal killings, disrupting of commercial activities, restrictions of freedom of movement to exercise their human rights, must be fished out from among us.

“I have listened carefully to the appeals of the elders and traditional leaders. I insisted that the matter is in the court where it will be properly executed. My worry is on the hardworking and innocent civilians whose lives are already made tough and who will like to just go out to earn a decent living.

I will once again repeat, no one has the right to carry an AK-47 in all parts of the country if it’s not a law enforcement officer. We have found ourselves in another process of selecting the leader for our dear county. I have always insisted that the elections be made to be free, fair and credible” he stated.
