We must consolidate the gains of the democracy, Dr Adenaike tells new national leaders of APC

A strong contender and frontliner for the senatorial seat of Ogun East Senatorial District under the All Peoples Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections – Dr. Adewale Adenaike has said that the emergence of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman of the Party and Mrs. Yetunde Adesanya, a delegate from Ogun State as the Zonal Women Leader (South West) at the just concluded national convention of the Party in the nation’s capital, Abuja, bear eloquent testimony to the viability of democracy in Africa’s largest political party as well as the African continent.

Dr. Adenaike who is widely held to be the leading candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial seat spoke at the beginning of an enlarged stakeholders’ engagement organized by the AJUSE and YESSS political platform of Dr. Adenaike to further consult with party elders, youths and other strategic stakeholders as activities for the 2023 electoral activities continue to gather momentum.

In his remarks at the stakeholders’ engagement, Dr. Adenaike while congratulating all the newly elected national officials of the Party and the conduct of the delegates from Ogun State as well as His Excellency, the Governor of Ogun State – Prince Dapo Abiodun told his supporters “my decision to seek for elective office under the auspices of the All Peoples Congress is because the fathers of the party and other key stakeholders share a common goal, which is a commitment to the development of democracy and our nation, Nigeria. I am a believer in the Nigerian project and the creative ability of our people. I am persuaded that no other political organization in Nigeria holds the key to the development of this country. I am sure that the tree of democracy is firmly planted and continually watered like the All Peoples Congress. It is for this reason that I will continue to encourage as many people as possible to join the APC now.”

Speaking further, Dr. Adenaike said the successful completion of the National Convention of the Party, the peaceful and consensual way the National Officers emerged, including the allocation of frontline roles for women underscore the fact that democracy has not only taken root in Nigeria, the opportunity for growth is becoming more visible within our democracy.

While congratulating and pledging to work harmoniously with the new National Officers of the Party, to ensure that the gains of the National Convention are further consolidated, Dr. Adenaike urged the new Officers to strengthen the practice of democracy in Nigeria in their words and action. “As a party, we have become the example. As leaders, your peaceful emergence underscores the fact that democracy is a peaceful system. One of your fundamental goals must therefore be to ensure that this peaceful system of government that brought you to the helm of affairs in our party is strengthened.”
