TESCOM BOSS ASSURES BUSSERS’ ASSOCIATION OF GOVT INTERVENTION

 


The Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Evang. Olalekan Ifede has assured the Conference of Bussers of Secondary Schools (COBUSS), Ogun State Chapter, of adequate intervention of the State government through continuous capacity building, to enable them perform their duties effectively.


 Evang. Ifede gave this assurance while receiving the association on a courtesy visit in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta disclosed that as parts of the steps towards proffering solutions to the lingering problems confronting the group, the activities of the association would be included in the commission’s manual for efficiency.  


The Chairman revealed that the Manual would reflect rules and practices guiding the professional body, adding that it is expedient for bussers to equip themselves with accounting qualifications, in order to be relevant in the schools they were posted to.


"As bussers, the minimum certificate expected of you is Ordinary National Diploma, but it is advisable to seek more additional qualifications in higher institution of learning to pave way for more elevation as you progress in life", Ifede said.


Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye, advised them to exhibit diligence and uprightness as accounting officers in their various schools, stating that integrity attracts rewards and enjoined them to embrace tolerance, wisdom, and professional dexterity to allow them to excel in their careers.


The Commissioners 1 and 4, in the Commission, Hons. Adeola Akintande and Ademola Adeleye respectively said the Commission is committed to establishing a harmonious relationship with the bussers, in order to avail them of required benefits.


Responding, the COBUSS Chairman, Comrade Olusegun Adebisi commended the commission's Board members for injecting new initiatives into the system as well as allowing them to express their minds.


He said some of their duties include signatory to the schools’ account, keeping all incoming and outgoing vouchers, and preparing salaries records for Teaching and Non-Teaching staff, among others.


Comrade Adebisi promised that the Association would work hand in hand with the Commission in realising the present administration’s mantra, adding that the advice given by the board members would further cement a peaceful co-existence with other major stakeholders.
