TAP MINERAL RESOURCES IN IJEBU NORTH EAST FOR INCREASED IGR - INDIGENES CALL ON GOVT

 


Indigenes of Ijebu North East have called on Ogun State Government to tap into the mineral resources that are largely deposited in the area, so as to generate more revenue for the State.



This was made known during a Strategic Public Enlightenment Campaign and Engagement  organized by the Ministry of Information and Strategy, on the activities and achievements of the State  Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun at the Local Government Secretariat in Atan.


Speaking at the event,  Chairman of the council area, Hon. Folusho Badejo said the  mineral resources like Cocoa, Palm oil, Rubber, Palm kernel are in abundant and  could  provide fund for  the State to further improve the  socio-economic development of the town as well. 

" We have a town called Ehin Osun. It is large enough to be a district with mineral resources such as Cocoa, Palm oil, Rubber, Plantain, Palm kernel which are capable of Improving the Internally Generated Revenue of the State if they are well harnessed''. 


'' I want to passionately appeal to the Governor Abiodun on behalf of indigenes of this Local Government Area to visit Ehin Osun, in order  to have first hand information on the resources which the area are endowed with'', Badejo stated. 

Contributing, the Chairman, Council of Baales in the area, Mr Durojaye Olugbode, said the State government  should construct a bridge that would link 'Ehin Osun' to other communities to serve as a catalyst for rapid development of the area.


Olugbode commended the giant strides of the Governor  as packaged in the documentary, affirming that his initiatives since inception has  turned around  furtune of the State. 



Also speaking,  the Iyaloja of Ijebu North East Local Government, Chief Mrs. Susana Onanuga  lauded the effort of the Ministry of Information and Strategy for keeping the people informed  through the documentary and  film show, as well as giving room for feedback and public opinion. 

 

Onanuga reinstated the support of market men and women in the council area to the administration, calling for establishment of higher institution in the area. 


Responding on behalf of the State Media team, the Director of Information  (Strategy), in the Ministry, Mr. Lanre Ogunyinka reiterated the commitment of Prince Dapo Abiodun led government at ensuring participatory governance. 


According to Ogunyinka, the Governor is a man of his words, a good listener and a complete technocrats, who is committed to the wellbeing of the citizenry through the provision of essential social amenities. 



Other personalities at the event include, Baales from various towns, Iyalojas, representatives of  Community Development Associations, religious bodies and youths associations.
