An appeal has gone to the Federal Government by a Foremost Aspirant in Ogun East Federal constituency for Reconstruction of Sagamu/Ijebu Ode Express way for ease movement of Vehicle.
Okeowo Olasubomi, A house of Representatives Aspirant for Ijebu Central federal Constituency, in an interview with Pressmen lamented the state of the express highway most especially between Ijebu ode and Sagamu interchange saying the road had been abandoned and lives are being wasted.
" It's as if we do not pay taxes or remittances to the government. Its so bad that our people in Ijebu whose core and basic interests lies in commerce have been abandoned."
"According to Okeowo, the ijebus are egalitarian people and they love to work hard. We are the commercial nerve center of the Entire country. And its so sad that no one goes into any other part of Nigeria without first passing through Ogun state because we are the gateway state."
"But it is unfortunate that the Federal government have shunned the roads and our cars get dilapidated daily just by plying the route that makes for our daily needs." Okeowo said.
Commending Prince Dapo Abiodun, He said the Governor has done tremendously well with virtually all the state roads. A drive through Ijebuode township, Abeokuta, Aiyetoro and Yewa axis shows that His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun understands the expedient needs of motorable roads in the growth of revenue of any serious geographical location.
Okeowo called on all the leaders, Kabiyesis and youth leaders to call the attention of the minister of works to fix the road in question saying the stretch just needs resurfacing and the weeds be taken care of as the trees are growing into the express highways.
He also pointed out the dangers of the 3 bridges before Ijebu ode saying all the railing are worn off and cars slide into the River occasionally and death occurs.
Okeowo concluded that if the Federal government will give him a chance, he won't mind fixing hard railings on the bridges and helping to resurface the stretch of road at his own personal cost just to save the lives of the people of ijebus.
