Ogun state will again boost its internal revenue and witness growth of local businesses, as the 4th edition of the long anticipated vendor exhibition, My Grand Event, is set to hold in August, 2022.
My Grand Event is an exhibition set up to showcase array of vendors in the event industry in Ogun State as well as serve as a veritable platform for attendees to interact, network and
The event themed, 'Mega Season 4.0: The Rebirth', will also feature an exhibition of Products and Services by hundreds of vendor from across the State.
The Organiser of the event, Ebunlomo Tayese, while fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokuta, disclosed that this year's edition would be a two-day exhibition, adding that participants stand the chance of getting more than they expect within the two days.
She said that the event took place in 2017 but was forced to stopped due the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her words, "We were about gearing up for another one before Covid shock and since everybody knew that it had been the survival of the fittest, 2021 was a year everybody needed to recover from the storm; to see if we can get our footings back. And glory be to God this is 2022.
Speaking on the genesis MGE, Tayese stated that the event idea was conceived out of the curiosity to bring value to event vendors in Ogun state as well as build small scale enterprises in order to compete with their counterparts in Lagos and Oyo state.
"The major reason for it is that when I came to Ogun state, I discovered that we are undervalued, underused in Ogun state as vendors; and it is still happening to us up till now that you will find out that a lot of people will still bring in vendors from Lagos, Oyo state because of standard, "
"Meanwhile , I was here, I got to Ogun state, Abeokuta from Ijebu-Ode in 2012. So for me to be here from 2012 up till 2023, I have worked with countless vendors and I have seen the good things that they do", she said.
She noted that several yearnings of vendors in Ogun state for the continuation of the event informed the decision to organise the fourth edition.
"People have reached out to us to bring it back. People have been looking out for another edition. And we think that let's give it another try. Immediately we decided we are going to have another edition, so we called for a volunteers meeting. You know it is good enough to see from your own side, you also need to see from other people's view to know what they actually want.
"A lot of people clamoured to let them have prices in sales for the things people want to exhibit or showcase.
She added "People also clamoured for discounts. They know that MPU is a brand and we are probably going to be using people in our own link, people within our brand but they said we should put in people that are also upcoming vendors.
" I think for this year's edition, we are intentional about makeup and an all-inclusive edition. Some people also clamoured for not making it an event based alone. You know it is called My Grand event. So, we expect that from this exhibition we are going to be able to pick out vendors that will make the event grand. That is the main goal.
When asked about the drive behind Tayese, she said "For me, the only thing that keeps me going is the strong will to be successful. I just want to be very, very successful and be remembered for something that is good."
