OGUN HoS TASKS DOCTORS ON PROFESSIONALISM

Medical Doctors have been asked to embrace professionalism while discharging their duties and put more effort into realising the goals set by their Association in order to move it forward.

Ogun State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro who stated this in Abeokuta, during the 2022 Ordinary General Meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ogun State Branch, urged medical Doctors not to travel, calling on those that have left for greener pastures to the developed nations to come back and develop their fatherland.

"I want to congratulate every member and the executives of this great Association for a successful hosting of this year’s Ordinary General Meeting. I want to charge the medical Doctors to be up and doing, be more dedicated, and uphold the ethics of the profession. It is our duty to support this association to reach our goals and I believe that we are ready to put in our best", Aigoro said.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the association, Dr. Oladayo Ogunlaja said the programme was put together to find a solution to the brain drain syndrome, how to make things better, and make Nigeria great again.

In his lecture, the Chief Speaker, Dr. Oluwole Kukoyi, who spoke on the theme" ‘’Doctors Exodus to Greener Pastures: Can Nigeria Be Green Again? Way Forward to Stopping This Looming Disaster" explained that the migration of doctors from Nigeria to the developed nations, especially to the United Kingdom with 9,529 doctors as of April 2022, has become problematic and must be tackled by the Government, with the support of everyone.

He said “someone who views from the wrong side would have wrong perspective and where he or she thought was green might not actually be green”.

Delivering the second lecture on managing head and neck cancer, Dr. Kehinde Ololade, said early detection is the key to surviving cancer, advising everyone to do regular body check-ups.
