She said the present administration was committed to a brand-new Judiciary through the incorporation of the Seven-Point Agenda which would drastically bring justice delivery to its peak and would take the Judiciary to the next level, advising Magistrates to be fair, disciplined, as well as to shun any form of enticement and inducement to preserve the course of justice.
In her welcome address, the Chairman, Magistrates Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Branch, Mrs. Ibilola Abudu stated that the seven-point Agenda which was initiated and led by the Chief Judge under the State Judiciary had made their job easy and the delivery of justice in general.
Mrs. Abudu said the Chief Judge had always been committed to the welfare of Magistrates and the Association as a whole, pointing out that these had assisted in the prompt disposal of cases which resulted in the speedy dispensation of justice across the State.
She noted that special courts have been created such as Family Courts and Small Claims Court manned by the Chief Magistrates, adding that the present administration had periodically increased the strength of the workforce in magistracy through regular appointment into different cadre with the prompt provision of the necessary equipment that would aid the discharge of their duties.
The Chairman said some Senior Magistrates were recently upgraded to Acting Chief Magistrates while others would soon receive their letters of promotion, having undergone the necessary process, noting that training was organised at regular intervals for Magistrates at different levels under the State Judiciary with their remuneration received as and when due.
"Indeed, the prompt administration of justice is being achieved on a faster lane in Ogun State, and coupled with the creation of the Sub Committee on Decongestion of the Nigerian Correctional Service Centers in the State, unjust incarceration of suspects will gradually fade out in the State", she said.
