A total of N3,633,168,161.88 including shares of statutory allocation, VAT, and exchange gain has been shared as Federal Allocation due to the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State, for April 2022.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, disclosed this to stakeholders at the monthly Joint Account Allocation Committee meeting (JAAC), acknowledging the increase in the month’s allocation when compared to what was received in the last two months.
He assured that all the Local Governments would conveniently have their net salaries paid without delay, and apologised to those who got their salaries paid late in March as a result of the shortage of funds in the last allocation.
“I want to apologies to those who got their salary late due to a shortage of funds last month, I assure you that such would not happen this month as we have enough funds to meet up with the net payment, we want everyone to start having their salary as soon as possible, that is why we called the meeting on a short notice”, Afuape said.
Earlier in his presentation, the Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola, said the sum of N3,633,168,161.88 represented the total allocation from Federal Government, while the sum of N4,287,603,768.53 represented the first line charges for the month, which includes: primary school teachers’ salary, Local Government Staffs’ salary, Pensions, Traditional Council and other charges.
He noted that the gross deficit for the month stood at the sum of N654,435,606.65, which covers PAYE, contributory pension, five percent bond on pension, as well as cooperative and loans.
In his remarks, the Chairman Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Emiola-Gazal Babatunde said the rapid response received from the State by the Local Governments showed the administration’s concern for the welfare of its workforce.
In their contributions, Chairmen, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Comr. Akinola Abiodun and Comr. Ayuba Olatunji respectively appreciated the State government for the quick intervention they always receive whenever there is a shortfall in the council’s allocations.
