Parents and guardians have been admonished to bring up their wards in a godly manner, as it has lots of positive effects on nation-building.
A renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Muhydeen Bello stated this in Abeokuta during the 7th Annual Ramadan Lecture organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Information chapel with the theme, “Islamic and Youth of Today; Guiding Our Future; Role of Parents”.
Sheikh Bello noted that the family remains the first contact for child training, stating that everyone’s character is a reflection of his home, maintaining that belief in Allah through the observation of Islamic principles are keys to having a brighter future for the country.
“Honesty, magnanimity, punctuality, humility, obedience to constituted authorities are valuable attributes for the training of a child", Bello said.
The Guest lecturer also called on journalists to be objective and truthful in their reportage, to avoid the wrath of Allah on the day of judgment.
In his remarks, the Chief of staff to the State Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salis, charged the Muslim faithful to sue for peace, to change the narrative of insecurity and social vices among the youths in the society.
Alhaji Salis expressed hope that the lecture would bring about the desired result of changing the orientation of youths, towards ensuring a decent society.
One of the audience, Mrs. Kudirat Alabi appreciated the organisers for inviting such a respected Cleric, saying acting according to the teachings of the lecturer would promote sanity not only in the State but Nigeria at large.
