Ogun State Government has called on disputing parties in Bode Olude-Emere, Odeda Local Government Area to maintain peace and order pending the time the issues of Baaleship and Oluwo Emere will be resolved.
It would be recalled that recently, ‘Emere’ Council of Chiefs in Bode Olude Emere, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State alerted the State government and security agencies of a looming bloodbath in the community, following the Baaleship tussle between Chief Lateef Kolawole Sanyaolu and Chief Jimoh Olanrewaju Taiwo.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, who said this at a meeting with the disputing parties in his office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, noted that evidences of court directives from the two parties over the position of ‘Oluwo’ would assist the Ministry to determine the next step to be taken.
Afuape stated that the present administration in the State is a law-abiding government that would not interfere with court judgments presented by the parties, saying the meeting sought to prevent unnecessary communal crisis or clashes.
In his contribution, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun enjoined all parties to maintain peace while the Ministry work on amicable resolution on the matter.
The two contending parties appreciated the efforts of the government in calling for peace in the area and expressed the hope that it would help find lasting solution to the disputes.
