Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his team about Benfica striker, Darwin Nunez ahead of both sides’ Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie on Tuesday night.
Klopp described Nunez as a ‘top boy,’ adding that it will be a challenge for Liverpool to keep him quiet when the two teams meet at Estádio da Luz.
Nunez has scored 27 goals in just 34 matches across all competitions for Jorge Jesus’s side so far this season.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Klopp heaped praises on Nunez.
The Reds’ boss said as quoted by The Hard Tackle: “He is a good striker. The next one from Uruguay! I don’t know how they play together, Cavani, Suarez and him, in one team – that is probably a challenge to put that in place. Top, top boy.”
He added, “Yes, the goals he has scored. Obviously, the one against Ajax in Amsterdam was a massive one, yes in the group stage as well, so he is not shy. He did not start the last game, he came on at halftime because of coming back from international duty, so we expect him to start tomorrow, and we have to make sure that he will not get a lot of balls.”
