Ogun State Government has revealed that over 150 rural communities in the three Senatorial Districts have benefited from its borehole projects since the inception of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration.
The Program Manager, Rural Water Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN), Mr. Sola Ogunbo made the revelation during an awareness walk in Abeokuta to commemorate the 2022 World Water Day, saying the projects were executed with the support of the Federal Government under the counterpart funding arrangement.
Ogunbo who spoke on the theme for the Day, "Groundwater, Making the Invisible Visible”, stated that most rural communities depend on groundwater for their day-to-day activities, adding that the government is intensifying effort to provide clean and safe water in the rural areas.
He called on philanthropists, private and non-governmental organisations to support the government in the provision of potable water for maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation.
