Different policies and programmes initiated by the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration in Ogun State, particularly in education and agriculture are factors responsible for the laudable achievements recorded by the State.
The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun disclosed this in Abeokuta at the 1st Olatunde Abudu Annual Lecture, titled: “Impact of Science and Technology on Agriculture” said his administration would continue to provide access to qualitative education and participation in mechanised farming that would guarantee food security.
Abiodun, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu maintained that the present administration had encouraged young people into farming through the anchor borrowers’ programme, saying “no wonder the Governor bagged the Best Governor Award in Agriculture for two consecutive years”.

In his presentation, the Guest Lecturer, Dr. Oluwashina Olabanji said Nigeria was indeed a blessed country in terms of agricultural endowment with favorable climatic nature.
Dr. Olabanji noted that without the application of technology to agriculture, farmers would continue to have challenges in different areas, such as cultivating farmland, planting, nurturing of plants, harvesting, and storage.
He called on leaders of government to continue to put in place policies and programmes that would revamp the agriculture sector, through the improvement of mechanisation, biotechnology, chemical fertilizer and crop protection.
The Guest Lecturer stressed that it would be difficult for a nation to survive without agricultural activities, saying agriculture connects to the production of all basic human needs.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Egba Science Educational Foundation Prof. Delana Adenekan disclosed that the foundation was founded about 20 years ago with the main objective to raise the standard of science education in the Secondary Schools across Egbaland.
