Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Dr. Nafiu Aigoro has said it is necessary for the South-West region to imbibe best practices that would move the operations of the Civil Service forward.
Aigoro stated this in Abeokuta while playing host to delegates from the Office of HoS, Oyo State who came to understudy the mode of operations and achievements of the Public Service Transformation Office (PSTO) in Ogun State, saying the Civil Service would witness a tremendous turnaround when State cross-fertilise ideas.
The HoS who said the visit is a pointer that there is something the State is doing right and needs to continue in that direction, expressed delight that Ogun had been chosen to be understudied by the Oyo State delegate, adding that support from the Federal Government for the Public Service Reform would assist States in achieving their goals and aspirations.
"We must have been doing something well and right for Oyo State to have come and understudied the activities of Ogun PSTO and we are proud of the achievement and giant strides the agency is taking to help reform our Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the government", Aigoro said.
In his remarks, the Director of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, Oyo State, Mr. Adegoke Aderenle noted that the study tour was to learn good practices as his State is to establish its PSTO Office, stating that Ogun and Lagos being one of the foremost States should be studied to get it right from the onset.
Aderenle said the base study review is to get acquainted with the structure that is already on ground in Ogun, saying the State has been doing well and worthy of emulation in all ramifications.
Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, PSTO, Ogun State, Mr. Jola Oyeneye said if all States could have a functional Public Transformation Office, it would bring about improvement in the Civil Service in Nigeria.
He said there is a need for upskilling in the operations of the Civil Service reforms, urging the delegates to be focused, upright and technology inclined when establishing the Oyo PSTO office.
