WE’LL CONTINUE TO PRIORITISE WELFARE OF INTENDING PILGRIMS-OGSG

Ogun State Government says it will harness necessary human and material resources at ensuring that intending pilgrim to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia are physically and mentally fit.

The Executive Secretary, Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Salau Dauda stated this in Abeokuta, during a courtesy visit to the management of Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board (PHCDB).

Dauda noted that the PHCDB had been playing a vital role in compliance with the health policy of Saudi Arabia, soliciting for its cooperation for full vaccination of intending pilgrims when 2022 Hajj exercise commences.

He pleaded with the agency to assist in giving dependable information about the vaccination cards of intending pilgrims who had earlier been vaccinated, so as to get confirmation to avoid late hour rush.

Responding, the Executive Secretary, PHCDB, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola assured that all intending pilgrims would be vaccinated in accordance with the health policy of Saudi Arabia, saying no pilgrim from Ogun State would be denied access into the Holy Land.

Ogunsola stated that first, second and booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines were available for the people of the State with special consideration for the intending pilgrims.

He noted that the government was determined to see that at least 85 percent of the citizens were vaccinated, calling on clerics to assist in sensitising the people on the benefits of the vaccine.
