OGUN RECEIVES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR ADIRE



As part of efforts to develop the ‘Adire’ local fabric, the Ogun State Government has received the support of the Federal Government through the office of the Vice President on Shared Facility.


The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who made this known in his office in Abeokuta, when he played host to the Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole disclosed that the shared facility would be provided towards up-scaling the Adire market in the State.


Governor Abiodun noted that the shared facility was geared towards building modern facilities for Adire factory in the State, disclosed that the construction work would soon start in earnest.


Abiodun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi noted that facility was coming at a time when the ‘Adire industry is booming in the State.


"Basically, the shared facility is to build a modern infrastructure, and because of the prominence and strategic importance of Adire to the State. So, the market will be redesigned to accommodate new stalls. It is not a general market building but specially for Adire’’, he said.         


Earlier in her remarks, the Special Adviser to the President on the Ease of Doing Business, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole while commending the Ogun State Government for focusing on infrastructural development, advocated for the need to patronise original fabrics that were handmade and authentic.


Oduwole who stated that the Federal Government would encourage makers of indigenous fabrics to scale up their production process, added that it would continue to pay more attention to matters that would bring quality inputs into the country, to lift one hundred million people out of poverty, urging the public to download and visit www. reportgov.ng for complaints.


Also in their various contributions, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade disclosed that the government is continuously working towards reviewing a law that would aid the ease of doing business, adding that it is committed to ensuring the State remains industrial hub of the nation.


Speaking, his counterpart in the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo commended the Shared Facility gesture, calling on the Federal Government to put an end to importation of the low quality of the fabrics into the country.
